George Carlin

I don't think of George Carlin as just a comic. Appropriately, he won the Mark Twain Award for Humor last week. Sadly, he died last night.

Carlin had amazing talents and used them to challenge society, improving it even as he appeared to give up on it. We are all worse off with his loss.

One of my favorite clips of his features him riffing on the language oddities we use - in relation to airplanes.

And finally, he may have been most famous for the seven words you cannot say on television. Took those words to the Supreme Court.
