Fascinating video showing how beautiful Norway is and how they prevent unexpected rockfall, I guess...

I don't get it.
How do they decide where to hit? After hitting, it seems to me that the rocks might still be liable to shear off in the next N hours.
I'm not expert
But some rocks come loose and are more likely to fall - these are the rocks the helicopters likely target. Not all rocks are equally likely to fall. They find unstable rock and knock it loose, I'm guessing. Over a period of years, some other rock may become similarly unstable and be targeted.
Yeah, but...
I hit the rock today. Hitting it causes a bunch of micro cracks. Water get in and freezes, creating macro cracks. 3 months later, rocks fall. Seems like I am likely to be creating later rock falls. That was my point.
